About The Mara Serena Lodge Mara Serena Lodge is built as an interpretation of a Masai village known as manyatta.
Set at an altitude of 1450 metres above sea level, on a saddle of a hill, the domed huts overlook the rolling plains of the Mara Triangle- an expansive wildlife sanctuary measuring about 1800 sq kilometers (approximately 697 sq miles).
The Mara triangle is one of the richest wildlife sanctuaries in the world.
Not many lodges in the Masai Mara have such spectacular views of the surrounding landscape or the wildlife that inhabits it.
It is this very terrain, stretching as far as the eyes can see, where the annual wildebeest and zebra migration takes place.
During this period, between end of June and end of October, (give or take a week or two) millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle traverse the landscape from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania, to feed on the rich new grass in the Mara plains.
