There are many symptoms of panic or anxiety attack and I will point out and explain as much as I could in this article.
Allow me, however, to first discuss what this disorder is.
A panic attack is a disorder wherein a person is plagued by mostly unprecedented bouts of panic attacks.
There is a wide-range of reasons for having a panic or anxiety attack disorder but they all boil down to one thing - maintained high levels of anxiety.
Sure it is normal to get a little anxious from time to time and there is nothing wrong about that.
In fact, it is believed that mild anxiety can actually sharpen your mind; however, if this mild anxiety escalates to severe anxiety and nothing is done to alleviate it, you develop a panic or anxiety attack disorder.
Like what I have mentioned earlier, there are a couple of panic attack symptoms that I will discuss in this article and one of those is hyperventilation.
This is probably the most commonly observed symptom among panic attack patients but the reason as to why this happens still baffles everyone.
Hyperventilation is usually the cause of another panic attack symptom - fainting.
When your breathing becomes erratic, the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body also changes.
Because less oxygen gets inside your lungs, and consequently your brain, there is a big tendency that you will lose consciousness.
One other very common symptom is tachycardia or increased heartbeat.
Since your body will detect that you are under a lot of stress, your brain will activate your sympathetic response in order to prepare your body to either fight or flight.
Increased heartbeat is one of the manifestations of an activated sympathetic response.
Actually, most of the symptoms of a panic or anxiety attack are caused by the sympathetic nervous response.
You see, the sympathetic nervous response is triggered by anything that imposes threat to us.
Some of these symptoms are diaphoresis, trembling or shaking, nausea, among others.
One other symptom that I want you to focus on is the sense that time is going by slowly.
This is very common to panic or anxiety attack patients and this is what causes their fears to escalate; because they think that they have been suffering for a very long time.
Here is what I need you to remember, one cycle of panic attack only lasts for a mere 10-15 minutes.
So I suggest that during a panic attack, try to relax and wait for the symptoms to die down; because it eventually will.
Those are the things that you have probably experienced during a panic or anxiety attack and what you will be going through on your succeeding attacks if you do not do something about it.
I pointed out those symptoms because I need you to understand that none of those are actually fatal, thus, there is no need to hand over your life to this disorder.
