Specifications of the 1998 Ford F-250

    Engine and Powertrain

    • The F-250 of 1998 came in five different trim styles, however the standard engine was a 4.6 liter V-8 with 220 horsepower at a maximum rpm of 4,500. It had a displacement of 4,601 cc and the bore and stroke were 90.2mm and 90mm. The engine had a compression ratio of 9. The maximum torque of 290 foot-pounds was acquired at 3250 rpm.

      A 5.4 liter V-8 with 195 horsepower or 235 horsepower was an option depending on the upgrade package.

      The 98 F-250 came standard with a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive, ABS brakes, a 3.31 to 1 axle ratio and a wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bar and a beam rear suspension. A four-speed automatic transmission was available as an option.

      Maximum payload of 2650 pounds and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.

    Exterior

    • The '98 F-250 was available in five trims, they were all available for the two-wheel drive and the four-wheel drive models. The trims were the base, XL , XLT, XLT and Lariat. Each of the trim styles were available for the regular cab, super cab and extended bed models.

      Overall length for all models was 220.8 inches, width 78.40 inches, height 73.30 inches, wheelbase 138.5 inches and a ground clearance of 7.20 inches. The curb weight is 4,756 pounds for the super cab and 4,734 pounds for the regular cab.

      The 98 F-250 was available in 10 colors and six colors for the Lariat package.

    Safety Rating and Fuel Efficiency

    • The 1998 F-250 had a fuel capacity of 30 gallons. Its fuel efficiency 13 miles per gallon in the city, 16 mpg on the highway with a combined 14 mpg. The four-wheel drive models received a fuel efficiency of one mile less than the two-wheel drive models.

      The 1998 F-250 was not tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association for safety ratings.

    Interior

    • The base model came standard with cloth seats, driver and passenger front airbags, four speaker AM/FM stereo and power windows. Air-Conditioning was not a standard feature.

      Upgrade options, included cruise control, leather seats, captains chairs with console, engine block heater, natural gas fuel, power seats and premium stereo with six speakers, cassette and compact disc.

      The interior varies depending on the cab option, for the regular cab the headroom is 40.80 inches, legroom 40.90, shoulder room 63.80 inches and a hip room of 61.30 inches.

      The super cab has a front headroom of 40.80 inches,front legroom of 40.90 inches,from shoulder room of 63.80 inches and a front hip room of 61.30 inches. The rear has a headroom of 37.80 inches, legroom 32.20 inches, shoulder room of 64.20 and a hip room of 64.90 inches.

      The standard seating with a bench seat is six adults, five with the upgraded captains chairs.
