- It is possible to RV camp in Illinois year round.state seal of illinois image by Jan Ebling from Fotolia.com
Most of the RV parks in Illinois are closed during the winter season. Since this state is in the snow-belt, that is understandable. Full-time RV owners tend to head toward warmer locales during winter, especially if they have rigs that are not set up for cold weather operation. If you do happen to be in Illinois, whether for a quick vacation or just passing through, there are some parks that are open all year. - Located just off of Highway 57 in southern Illinois, the Benton KOA offers year-round camping. The park offers RV and tent sites as well as cabins for rent. Pull-through RV sites are offered that can accommodate the large Class A rigs with towed vehicles or the largest fifth wheels. Full-service sites including water, sewer and electric are offered, as well as sites with just water and electric service. Electrical hook-ups are either 50 or 30 amp. The sites are wide enough for slide outs.
Campground amenities include a convenience store, laundry room, swimming pool (seasonal), game room, horseshoe pitch, fishing pond, dump station and complimentary wireless Internet access. Campground hosts will deliver firewood to your site and even a pizza. Pets are welcome.
The nearby town of Benton, less than a mile away, offers restaurants, pubs, antique stores, grocery outlets and retail services. Franklin Hospital is in the center of town.
