So you finally bought the sleek new PSP that you wanted since ages! I am sure now you are ready to listen to all your favorite songs on your PSP.
But wait a minute! Do you know how to put music on a PSP? Too bad Sony doesn't tell you that in their PSP Manual! Now don't pull your hair in frustration because I am going to tell you exactly how to put music on a PSP in simple steps.
Before we begin, keep in mind that PSP cannot play all music formats.
The PSP can only play music files that are in following formats : .
MP3, .
MP4 (The latest firmware also supports -.
ATRAC3plus, .
ATRAC3, .
WAV, .
WMA) If you want to play music of a different format on PSP; for example music from your CD; you'll have to convert it to MP3 or MP4 format.
Don't worry, I'm going to tell you how to do that as well.
If you have your favorite music files in PSP compatible formats on your computer, you can directly transfer them to your PSP.
Here's how to do this: 1) Connect your PSP to your computer via a USB cable.
Your computer will detect your PSP as a new USB device ( "Removable Disk Drive").
2) In the "My Computer" you should see a new drive letter for your PSP.
Normally it is E: or F: but it can vary depending on the number of drives in your computer.
If you're in doubt, click on the drive letter and it will show its contents.
3) Click on the PSP drive letter to see its contents.
It will show PSP folder.
Double click on the PSP folder.
It will show MUSIC folder.
Double click on MUSIC folder to see its contents.
Note -If your PSP Drive doesn't show any content, you can create a new folder called PSP.
Double click on PSP folder and create a folder called MUSIC.
This will be placeholder for all your Music files.
4) Copy the music files from your computer and paste them in your PSP's MUSIC folder.
When you're finished copying, just remove the USB connection and you're done.
If you want to transfer songs from your CD to your PSP, follow these steps: 1) Connect your PSP to your computer via a USB cable and locate the MUSIC folder as explained in steps 1-3 above.
2) You'll need a CD Ripper software to convert music.
There are many CD rippers available.
Download and Install one that suits your needs.
3) Load your music CD onto the CD drive.
Start the CD Ripper program and you'll see "Extract and Encode" button.
Click on the button and it'll covert and transfer songs to your PSP.
Make sure you select the PSP format.
When you're finished transferring the files, just remove the USB connection and you're done.
There you are, now your PSP is fully loaded with all your favorite songs and music albums!
