- 1). Fill a 5-gallon bucket three-quarters full with chicken manure.
- 2). Pour water into the bucket until it is completely full and cover with a lid. The lid should have a few holes in it to let air pass in and out of the bucket.
- 3). Set the bucket in the sun for 30 days. Once a week remove the lid and stir the compost tea.
- 4). Strain the contents of the compost tea and keep only the liquid.
- 5). Place 1/2 cup of compost tea in a watering can. Add 5 cups of water to dilute the homemade nitrogen solution.
- 6). Pour tea onto the soil of your plants every two weeks during the growing season. The contents of the watering will provide enough nitrogen for three plants.
