As a photographer, I am constantly on the move.
The fact is that photography can have a relaxing effect upon you - however, it can have a stressful effect on you as well.
Since I am not only a wildlife photographer (in Sweden mainly), I have many types of requests from very different people.
One of the jobs that I take, is actually making a photo coverage of ballroom dance tournaments here in Sweden.
And as you might know, it takes a lot of effort and precision to perfectly capture the shots.
Thus, I am very often stressed about these kind of jobs.
You just have to get it right the first time.
Of course, I am very fast and experienced in this field, so it does not pose such a great problem, but the fact is that I still get stressed about it.
So I started searching for sports that can make me more healthy and relaxed.
And guess what? I started dancing! Of course I had to have a female dance partner, and luckily I have my wife.
Now you may be asking yourselves how it is, and if it is really that "healthy".
To answer this question, I will have to draw a couple of parallels so that you can truly grasp the fun and personal development a person has when he/she starts to dance (especially ballroom dancing).
Besides, not only is it a personal development in regards to both mental and physical aspects, it is actually helping me a lot out in the tournament photographing jobs since I know what to expect, and when to expect that the pair will do.
Anyway, why is ballroom dancing so healthy? Well because you need to move! And I really mean move.
And you are probably thinking that it is just like walking or like running - but you are wrong.
The things like co-ordination of your body (that is the steps, the hip movements, the proper leg configuration in relation to your body, and the body shape) and the proper timing and co-ordination of actually leading your female dance partner is just to name a few.
There are so many things to think about, that the only way to fully grasp it is to repeat everything that you have been thought.
So obviously, not only is it burning your calories, but it also allows you to memorize the choreography.
And once you have memorized the choreography you can start building an emotional frame together with your female dance partner.
In the end, the goal is to be good in the technical aspect, but also being very good in the emotional aspect too.
If you think about it, dancing is a perfect way to get closer to someone.
Plus it will help you loose that extra weight, and allow you to get a better physical shape.
Therefore I strongly recommend this type of exercise to stay both fit, and just genuinely happy.
