A camo room, whether hunting or military, can get off to a great start with an accent wall mural. Murals are a terrific way to quickly transform a room and provide the perfect backdrop for a boy's fantasy world. For a hunting camouflage room, choose from a variety of wooded scenes, some including game animals like deer and turkey. For military camo rooms you can use a helicopter in flight mural or a world map mural. In either case, paint the remaining walls a coordinating color of beige, light tan or brown. - Hunting netting in use
Since camouflage is a popular theme for boys, bedding and linen manufacturers have provided plenty of items to help transform the space. Purchase a camouflage patterned comforter and coordinating bed linens with the most pervasive color, which is often green. Dark green pillow cases and sheets will help break up the camo look and add some variety to the room.
For added drama and fun, use camouflage netting, either in a hunting pattern or military pattern, and hang it over and around the top of the bed. Not only does this emphasize your theme, but it provides plenty of play opportunities for your child. Simply tack the edge of the netting to the ceiling or hang it from ceiling hooks. - army man toy
Purchase a plain wooden or metallic desk and paint it a coordinating green or khaki color. There are camouflage paint kits and techniques, but too much pattern in the room will make the area look chaotic and overdone. Instead, upholster the desk chair with a camo pattern to add a splash of print. Paint wooden bookshelves a dark camouflage green and accent with patterned camo bookends. Place hunting photos or action figures on the shelves to personalize the space. - Wood floors can be accented with a small novelty camouflage area rug that coordinates with the bedding. You could also use a grass rug on top of wall-to-wall carpeting for a jungle feel.
Window curtains in camo patterns are available, but hanging camo netting from the windows can also be fun and let more light into the room. You can use bamboo shades or tan or green mini-blinds if you choose.
