- 1). Lay the sheet of lined paper vertically on the table. Use the ruler to measure 6 inches in from the right (non-hole) side of the paper. Mark the measurement along the top edge of the paper.
- 2). Lay an edge of the ruler on the pencil mark so that it's parallel to the long side of the paper. Draw a line along the ruler from the mark at the edge of the paper exactly 6 inches down the ruler.
- 3). At the end of the 6-inch vertical line, use the ruler to draw another line (horizontal) back to the right side of the paper, creating a 6- by 6-inch square.
- 4). Cut the square out. Discard the leftover paper.
- 5). Use the 6-inch square to fold origami; 6- by 6-inch paper is standard origami-sized paper.
