- 1). Purchase a high-quality garment bag from your tailor or dry cleaner. These kinds of bags are generally large enough to hold several suits and are made of a thick, durable material. This is an excellent option if you are driving, taking the bus or plan on taking your suits as a carry-on for a flight.
- 2). Fold the legs of the pants in half along the seam and hang or clip them on a suit hanger.
- 3). Adjust the pants so that they are laying smoothly and evenly to avoid wrinkles.
- 4). Hang the jacket on the suit hanger.
- 5). Arrange the jacket, buttoning it fully, placing the shoulders evenly on the hanger and smoothing out any folds.
- 6). Avoid including any shoes in the garment bag.
- 7). Zip the bag shut and carry it by the hanger.
- 1). Fill your suitcase until it is almost full, but not quite. You want it to be filled with enough clothing to prevent the suit from moving during travel, but not so full that the suit will be crushed.
- 2). Fold your pants at the seam and lay them flat on an even surface.
- 3). Fold the sleeves of your buttoned dress shirt inward, crossing them over the chest.
- 4). Place the dress shirt on top of the pants, so that the collar is aligned with the waist.
- 5). Put the jacket on top of the dress shirt. Adjust it by smoothing out any folds, buttoning it and straigthening the lapels.
- 6). Place a rolled-up stocking in each shoulder of the jacket to prevent them from being crushed.
- 7). Fold the pants in half, so that the legs lay over the top of the jacket.
- 8). Slide a dry cleaners bag over the pants, dress shirt and jacket to prevent them from becoming stained during travel.
- 9). Carefully place the dry cleaning bag into the suitcase. It should be the last thing that you put in your suitcase.
- 1). Fill your bag until it is almost full, but not quite. You want it to be filled with enough clothing to prevent the suit from moving during travel, but not so full that the suit will be crushed.
- 2). Fold the pants at the seam and carefully roll them up into a bundle.
- 3). Place the pants at the edge of your bag so that they are securely positioned but are not being crushed.
- 4). Cross the arms of the buttoned shirt behind the back.
- 5). Fold the shirt in half, so that the lowest seam aligns with the back of the collar.
- 6). Place the shirt carefully in the bag, so that it remains smooth. It should be the last thing you put in before the jacket.
- 7). Turn the jacket inside out.
- 8). Place a rolled-up sock in each shoulder to prevent them from being crushed.
- 9). Fold the jacket in half vertically so that the shoulders meet. You should fold the jacket outward.
- 10
Fold the jacket in half horizontally if it will not fit in your bag unfolded. - 11
