How to Make a Windows XP Professional Startup Disk

    • 1). Download the Windows XP Professional setup disk utility from Microsoft's website. Select the version that corresponds with your version of XP. The original Windows XP Professional CD-ROM will indicate whether or not your version includes a service pack

    • 2). Run the setup utility and type the letter for your floppy drive, normally the letter "A," when prompted to specify the drive to copy the images to.

    • 3). Insert one of the blank, formatted disks into the disk drive when prompted. Press any key to begin copying.

    • 4). Follow the instructions onscreen and insert blank disks when prompted until you've used all six disks.

    • 5). Label the disks as prompted by the program.

    • 6). Insert the first disk in the floppy drive and restart your computer.

    • 7). Follow the instructions provided by the setup process, inserting the other disks as prompted.

    • 8). Finish the setup process by inserting the Windows XP Professional CD-ROM when prompted.
