- 1). Plan your own design or print templates from marthastewart.com or freecraftz.com, adjusting the size to your preference. Cut out the shapes of the design and then trim the transfer paper so that it is a little bigger than the template.
- 2). Position the transfer paper under the template and tape both to the plate or other ceramic piece. Using a firm hand, trace the design from the template with a ballpoint pen.
- 3). Pour paint into applicator bottles, mixing colors to customize shades as desired. Practice drawing your designs with the paint on scrap paper. If the paint tip becomes clogged, use a pin to clear it.
- 4). Paint the traced design on the ceramic surface, using baby wipes to erase mistakes. Let dry for two hours.
- 5). Use baby wipes to erase lines left from tracing the design. Heat for 30 minutes in an oven set to 300 degrees.
