Whether you're a wealthy businessmen on a city break, or cash-strapped student on an English course in Canada, there are any number of 'must see' attractions to be found in the country's cities.
But in many ways leave the cities behind and head out into the wilds, and the country, if anything, becomes even more amazing.
For, let's face it, very few are the parts of the world that can match Canada when it comes to stunning landscapes and awe-inspiring natural wonders.
Here, then, are four of them - and when you're talking about a country with as much natural splendor as Canada, the problem isn't so much choosing five, as leaving all the others out! 1.
Niagara Falls The Niagara Falls are one of the very few flows of water in the world that need absolutely no introduction.
And, to be fair, with about four million cubic meters of water tumbling over them every minute, there's really nothing on earth that can compare with them.
The falls can be easily reached from Ontario and constitute the most visited of all Canada's natural wonders.
A swirling, crashing - and deafening - mass of spume, foam and spray, it's impossible not to be awe-struck by this force of nature at its most elemental.
2.
Athabasca Glacier Canada's got its fair share of glaciers.
But many of them - like Baffin Island's magnificent Barnes Icecap - are in remote places that the average student on an English course in Canada would struggle to get to.
Athabasca Glacier, however, is different.
One of Canada's most visited natural wonders, you don't have to be a mountaineer to see it.
If this accessibility means that there are a few more people than you'd like, it still doesn't take anything away from the majesty of one of nature's most compelling (and endangered) spectacles.
3.
Gros Morne National Park Canada is the second biggest country in the world (after Russia) and has no fewer than 43 national parks.
Few, though, are as spectacular, wild and wonderful, as Gros Morne.
Officially protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's the staggering variety of cliffs, rock features and waterfalls that make it stand out above all the others.
4.
Northern Lights Natural wonders in Canada don't come much more stunning than the Aurora Borealis, or 'Northern Lights'.
A reaction between solar particles and Arctic gases, the effect is as breathtaking a sight as you could possibly imagine.
Fortunately for Canada, much of the north of the country falls within the 'aurora oval' - an area where the Northern Lights can be seen most clearly and frequently.
Venture up there into the chilly northern reaches, and you're treated to an ethereal kaleidoscope of color in the night sky.
