- 1). Click the "Start" button and select "Help and Support."
- 2). Choose the "Fixing a problem" option and select "Application and software problems."
- 3). Click the "Getting older programs to run on Windows XP" option under "Fix a problem."
- 4). Read the instructions that appear, then click on "Program Compatibility Wizard."
- 5). Choose "Microsoft Windows 98/Windows Me" when prompted to select a compatibility mode for the program.
- 6). Choose if you want to change the display to 256 colors and the screen resolution to 640 x 480 pixels when prompted. The Program Compatibility Wizard launches the program with the settings you chose to see how the program works in XP. It then offers you the chance to save the settings you chose and run the program, save the settings but go back and make changes or abandon the settings you chose completely and start from scratch.
- 1). Right-click on the icon for the program you wish to run on the desktop or right-click on the shortcut for the program from the "Start" menu and select "Properties."
- 2). Choose the "Compatibility" tab.
- 3). Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows 98. Click "OK."
