Projects With Wine Bottle Corks

    Holiday Ornaments

    • Make a holiday ornament with your wine bottle corks. Hold the cork lengthwise and place a small drill bit at the center point. Drill a hole through the center of the cork, all the way through. Thread a thin red ribbon through the hole. Use a safety pin or needle to help get the ribbon all the way through the cork, if necessary. Add gold or green beads to each end with a glue gun. Attach a red tassel to the dangling end of the ribbon with the glue gun. Tie the top end of the ribbon into a loop and hang it from your Christmas tree.

    Trivets

    • Make a trivet using wine bottle corks to hold hot dishes or pans and protect your table and counter surfaces. Arrange your corks by size on your work surface in the shape of your trivet. Measure it with a ruler and then cut a piece of wood with the same measurement. Cover the wood with a piece of felt with glue and set it aside while it dries thoroughly. This will serve as the bottom of the trivet. Once the glue is dry, set the wood piece on your work surface felt-down, and glue the corks on top of it. Put a heavy object on top of the corks and set it aside until the glue dries thoroughly.

    Place Card Holders

    • Make place card holders for large fancy dinner parties using your wine bottle corks. Take a sharp knife or box cutter and carefully cut a slit in the center of the wine cork horizontally. Insert an index card in the slit to confirm it fits snugly. Repeat this process in as many corks as you need or desire.

    Cork Boards

    • Make a cork board for your kitchen or den with spare wine bottle corks. Use a large picture frame as the border of your board. Glue your corks inside the frame with a hot glue gun. Glue them down so that their imprints are visible. Place heavy objects on top of the corks while the glue dries and do not use it until the glue dries completely.
