- 1). Cut the yarn or thread you used to sew the squares together, leaving a 6-inch tail.
- 2). Weave the yarn or thread in a zig-zag fashion through three to four stitches with a wide-eyed needle or a crochet hook. Place the needle or hook through the loops created by your knitting or crocheting. After you have threaded the yarn or thread through one seam, turn over the quilt pieces to ensure that the stitches do not show on the right side of the quilt. If the stitches show, pull them out and find loops that sit closer to the edges of the seam you created. Repeat the process going back to the seam.
- 3). Cut the thread or yarn so 1/4 inch remains. Stretch the granny squares, which pulls the end of the thread inside the last stitch you sewed. This secures the yarn inside the stitch and the likelihood of it pulling out is low.
