- 1). Sweep your bamboo floor with a fine-fiber broom every two to three days. This will pick up sediment and debris that can scratch the finish of the floor.
- 2). Vacuum your bamboo floor at least once every two months. This will pick up dirt in the corners that your broom may have missed.
- 3). Install curtains that will protect your floor from strong sunlight. Bamboo can become discolored when exposed to daily sunlight.
- 4). Place floor protector pads underneath the feet of all of your furniture. This small amount of protection can keep the floor from becoming dented under the weight of the furniture.
- 5). Rotate your furniture periodically. When the weight of the furniture is repositioned, no one portion of the floor should become dented or worn over time.
- 6). Clean your bamboo floor with a mop barely moistened with a solution of water that has a tiny bit of dish detergent squirted into it. Use this solution to clean the floor and then immediately wipe it dry. The less water you put on your floors, the better--water can seep in and cause the boards to swell. Never allow any liquid to stand on your bamboo floors; so clean up spills right away.
