- A BSN degree requires four years of study involving liberal arts, sciences and nursing coursework. The first two years of the program are focused on completing the liberal arts, sciences and nursing prerequisites. The final two years are focused entirely on nursing coursework and clinical rotations.
- An ADN and Diploma program involve the exact same curriculum and are completed in two years of study. The difference between an ADN/Diploma program and a BSN is the course of study. An ADN/Diploma program is focused solely on nursing coursework and advanced study is not taken.
- The NCLEX-RN is a six-hour examination required for all BSN and ADN/Diploma graduates in order to earn a registered nurse license. The examination covers many topics including health and safety regulations, nursing protocols, special patient populations and disease management.
- Clinical work experience in the field of dermatology nursing is incredibly important. In order to sit for the dermatology certification examination, a registered nurse must accumulate 2,000 hours in dermatology nursing within the previous two years of work.
- The four-hour certification examination is the final requirement of the dermatology nurse training. The examination is multiple-choice and covers patient problem areas and dermatology practice problems.
