- 1). Wash off the tile with a water-moistened soft cloth to remove loose dirt and contaminants. Let the tile air dry.
- 2). Apply furniture polish to the edge of a soft cloth. Place the edge of the cloth on the tile, to the left of the scratch. Press down on the edge as you drag the cloth across the length of the scratch. Lift the edge of the cloth off the tile once you reach the other end of the scratch. Repeat this procedure with a clean edge of the cloth.
- 3). Place the edge of a steel wool pad on the tile, to the left or right of the scratch, depending on which way the grain of the wood lies.
- 4). Press on the edge as you drag the pad across the length of the scratch, following the grain of the wood, and to the other side. Lift the pad off the tile. Repeat this procedure four more times.
- 5). Blow off the area on the tile where the scratch was with compressed air. Inspect the area to be sure that you can no longer see the scratch -- if you can see the scratch, reapply a line of polish, followed by sanding it four times with the steel wood pad.
- 6). Blow off the surface where the scratch was on the tile with a burst of compressed air. Spray furniture cleaner on the tile. Wipe the tile, using small circular motions, with a clean cloth. Let the tile air dry.
