How to Install a Flat Panel TV

    • 1). Choose a location on a wall with enough space and make sure there are studs to drill the nails into, where the sun will not glare onto the screen and has a power outlet nearby. If you are not sure where the studs are in your walls then use a stud finder.

    • 2). Attach the wall-mounting bracket to the flat-panel TV as per the instructions provided with your bracket.

    • 3). Hold the wall-mount piece firmly against the wall in the location you have chosen to hang the TV. Make sure to line up the screw holes in the mounting piece with the wall studs.

    • 4). Place the level on top of the wall mount and adjust the mount until it is completely level. This is easiest done by having at least one person assist you. One person should hold the wall mount while the other reads the level.

    • 5). Make clear marks through the holes of the wall mount using a pencil. This is also easiest done with two people.

    • 6). Drill small pilot holes on the pencil marks on the wall. This is where your anchoring bolts will go for the wall mount.

    • 7). Place the wall mount onto the wall in the location you have chosen, line up the holes in the mount with the holes drilled into the wall, then screw the anchoring bolts into place with a wrench or screwdriver to secure the wall mount.

    • 8). Pull gently on the wall mount to test that it is securely in place.

    • 9). Attach any cables to the flat-panel TV that it needs (for example, the cord for cable television or to your entertainment system).

    • 10

Mount the flat-panel TV to the wall by securing the wall-mounting bracket that is attached to your TV to the wall mount you just bolted to the wall.
