Custom Cabinets Make Your Bathroom Look Brand New

Is your bathroom boring, plain or just plain utilitarian? This part of your home is not just functional but has a character too. The master bathroom, in particular, should be open and inviting. Creating a spa kind of experience is a popular trend in redesigns. But, if you can't go all out and redo everything, the least you can do is replace existing pieces with custom cabinets.

You don't have to replace every piece if you don't have the funds. Simply installing a new vanity can change the look of a room. As far as custom cabinets go, there are four basic styles.

The latest trend is vessel sinks which allows the sink to sit on top of the counter. You may be able to even use the existing base and just replace the countertop and adjusting the plumbing.

Furniture-style types are considered classic. These pieces are raised on feet instead of going all the way to the floor. They are decorative and look like pieces of furniture instead of a bathroom vanity. This style can be contemporary or have an old-world antique look. It all depends on the kind of look you are going for.

If you don't want to go all out, you can keep your conventional style base and turn them into custom cabinets by refinishing the frame and the doors. Sanding and staining or painting can drastically change the atmosphere.

Changing the hardware can also create new look. If you have then space, you can build custom cabinets for storage especially if you opt for a vanity without storage. Floor to ceiling storage is perfect for linens, towels and toiletries.

Maybe you have a double sink monstrosity that takes up the whole room. Rip out the long piece and install two separate vanities. You can make use of the new found space by putting in a bench or making it a makeup application area with a seat.

While some rebuilds are simple, you may not feel comfortable taking on the bigger jobs. To ensure that everything is done well and done correctly, consider talking to a contractor. He can also help you envision what you need to make your bathroom the room you've always wanted without a complete remodel.

While doing your rebuild, make sure to use quality grade materials that are up to contractor standards. Be clear about what you want and don't be afraid to experiment with storage options and color.

Sure, tiling the floor, adding a garden tub and tiling the shower are great additions to any bathroom, but they are also expensive to accomplish. It'll be a room you want to be in.
