Making jar candles is easy nowadays with the wide availability of candle making jars and candle making supplies.
I have one candle making project idea that can be done any time with spare glass containers at home and a few other basic supplies.
For this project you would need the following:
Wash the jars with warm, soapy water.
Dry them with a piece of clean cloth and allow them to further air-dry.
Place all the glass jars that you intend to use for the project on some old sheets of newspaper.
This will protect your table (or floor) from any accidental wax spills.
If your cotton wicks do not have tabs, you can tie one end of the wicks to pencils or pens and hang them from the rim of the glass containers.
This will keep the wicks dead-center when you are pouring the wax.
Fill your pot with water (make it half-full) and place the melting can inside.
Place the cubes or flakes of wax inside the melting pot.
Set the stove to medium-high to bring the water to a rolling boil.
The heat will be enough to heat the wax.
We recommend that you use a double boiler setup whenever dealing with wax, to prevent any untoward incidents associated with introducing heat to wax.
After placing the wax cubes in the melting can, add the broken pieces of crayon in the can.
You can opt for just one color, or a mixture of colors.
Add as many as needed to make a deeply colored candle.
Add the essential oil next.
You can use food grade essential oil to the candle wax.
Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure that all the ingredients are incorporated well into the melted candle wax.
Pour the wax into the glass containers.
Allow the wax to dry.
