Marketing is always about getting the right media with the right message in front of the right market.
Assuming your media to market message is correct, powerful copy, credibility, and an irresistible offer are probably the main things that get visitors to buy our products online.
Blah, Blah, Blah you say...
regurgitated generalities.
Okay, lets say you have all the factors above covered, you are selling some but you want to increase your conversations.
Here are 10 specific things we have tested on various landing and sales pages using Google Analytics that have increased conversions.
Sorry, before we get going I just want to reiterate that you always have to nail the media to market message and that the 10 things I am listing here have worked in diet and entertainment niches.
1.
Telling is selling but don't go crazy.
Long copy isn't right for everything.
You don't need a 10 page sales letter for a $1.
95 "Risk Free Trial" of your diet pill.
You probably would need a long copy sales letter for a $1000 dollar coaching program.
One is an impulse buy, the other is not.
2.
If possible, give your visitors the option of ordering over the phone and make the phone number prominent.
Phone sales always convert better than internet only sales.
3.
Put testimonials next to all action areas such as opt-in and order forms.
4.
Use audio or LiveFaceOnWeb professional flash video on timed auto start.
But always make the audio or flash video visible and easy to turn off.
5.
Use video (something I should do more in this blog).
Any video will probably improve conversions but we have had considerable success using B or C list celebrities to endorse our products.
Find them through Celebrokers.
Be sure to budget for production costs too.
6.
Raise the bar on the guarantee and make your guarantee stand out.
We have had good luck making the guarantee look like a certificate with a seal.
If your guarantee is really good you may want to use it as your headline.
7.
Put the price right above your buy button (especially on long copy pages).
Many people just scan down to the price.
8.
We have had better results from 12 to 14 point Arial body text.
Apparently unlike print where serif fonts are easier to read Arial is easier to read online.
9.
Make sure testimonials have headlines, use quotation marks, full name, occupation, location, and web address if relevant (but not as a link.
You don't want visitors leaving your page.
) 10.
Add live chat to your site with something like intellichat.
