- 1). Set the ladder securely against the roof line, and climb up to the roof.
- 2). Find a spot on the roof to place the dish with a clear line of sight to the satellite. Ensure no trees or buildings block the dish.
- 3). Locate a roof rafter in that spot. Use a pry bar, if necessary, to peel up the roof overlay to find a rafter. Avoid removing the overlay, as you'll install the dish on top of it.
- 4). Set the satellite dish's mounting foot flat against the center of the rafter. Place the bubble level on top of the mounting foot and make sure it is level.
- 5). Insert the tip of a pen into each hole on the mounting foot. Create a mark through the mounting foot holes on the rafter.
- 6). Remove the mounting foot and use the electric drill with a 3/16-inch wood bit to create holes in the rafter at each mark.
- 7). Squeeze a dab of roof sealant on your finger, and fill each of the holes drilled into the rafter with roof sealant.
- 8). Line the mounting foot with the drilled screw holes on the rafter. Insert the 5/16-by-3-inch and 5/16-by-2-inch lag screws in each hole on the mounting foot and tighten them in place with a wrench. The mounting foot is now secure to the rafter.
- 9). Place the tip of the roof sealant dispenser along the edge of the mounting foot. Squeeze the sealant out along all sides of the mounting foot to seal it to the rafter. This will prevent water leakage.

Screw the one end of the mast foot into the mounting foot with two screws. One end of the mast foot will have a screw hole on the left and right side that matches with the two remaining screw holes on the mounting foot. Use a wrench to tighten the screws in place. - 11
Place a bubble level on top of the mast foot and make sure it is perfectly level. If the mast is not level, loosen the screws in the mounting foot and add 5/16-inch washers to screw holes until the mast foot is level. - 12
Loosen the mast clamp on the back of the dish with a wrench, place the dish on top of the mast arm and tighten the clamp screws to secure the dish to the mast arm. - 13
Feed the RG-6 coaxial cable through the bottom of the mast arm and out of the top of it, then feed it through the LNB arm that extends past the dish. Pull this cable into your home and screw it into the receiver box connected to your television.
