- 1). Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and flip the circuit breaker that corresponds to the dryer to the "Off" position to avoid electrical shock.
- 2). Find and remove the screws along the top of the control console using a Phillips screwdriver. Reserve the removed screws for reassembly.
- 3). Place a towel or soft cloth on top of the dryer to prevent the enamel from sustaining scuffs or scratches. Fold the control console casing down to rest on the top of the dryer.
- 4). Locate the timer assembly on the right side of the control console, directly underneath where the timer knob was on the console casing. Disconnect the two wires from the timer assembly by pulling on the wire connectors with needle-nose pliers to remove them from their terminals; do not pull the wires themselves.
- 5). Lift the control console casing and turn the timer knob to the "Regular Dry" position.
- 6). Press the appropriate button to power on the digital multimeter. Set the multimeter to read RX1 resistance.
- 7). Touch the multimeter probes to the terminals on the timer assembly. A reading of "0" indicates a functional timer. Troubleshoot, repair or replace the timer assembly if the multimeter registers a reading higher than "0."
