How to Fix the ScanDisk Problem in Windows XP

    • 1). Click on the "Start" button located in the bottom left corner of the screen and open "My Computer."

    • 2). Right-Click on "Local Disk (C:)" or any other hard disk you would like to check for errors and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

    • 3). Click on the "Tools" tab located in the top bar of the "Properties" window.

    • 4). Click on the "Check Now" button located beneath the section titled "Error Checking."

    • 5). Click the check box beside the options "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan For and Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors."

    • 6). Click the "Start" button located in the lower left corner of the "Properties" window to initiate the scan.

    • 7). Click on the "Yes" button when the following message pops up: "Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?"

    • 8). Restart the computer to start the system scan.
