- 1). Place a square napkin on your work surface directly in front of you at an angle. The napkin points should face left, right, top and bottom.
- 2). Lift the left corner of the napkin, bringing it over to the right corner. Crease the fold on the left and open the napkin to its original position.
- 3). Lift the left corner again and bring it to the center fold. Align the edge along the center and crease the outer left fold.
- 4). Lift the right corner and bring it to the center fold. Crease the resulting fold on the right. Your napkin will be shaped like a kite at this point.
- 5). Turn the kite over.
- 6). Lift the left half of the napkin and make a double fold. This is somewhat of a zigzag fold. Overshoot the center then double back. Do the same on the other side and press the creases.
- 7). Visualize a horizontal line about a third of the way down from the top. Fold the bottom of the napkin up along this line to create the swan's neck. Fold the tip downward to form the beak.
- 8). Arrange the napkin so that the swan's body forms the base, the neck is vertical and the beak is horizontal.
- 1). Place the square napkin in front of you with napkin points to the left, right, top and bottom.
- 2). Accordion-pleat the napkin with pleats about an inch wide, starting at the lower point until you have a long horizontal strip.
- 3). Pinch the pleated strip about a third or fourth of the distance from the left of the strip and ease the fold gently into a wine glass. The short tail of the strip and the long tail of the strip will be hanging out of the wine glass in opposite directions.
- 4). Splay the folds of the long section to resemble the body and tail feathers of the swan and fold the tip of the short section to create the beak.
