- Create a wider frame for your favorite pictures by using a few more Popsicle sticks while creating it. Glue the long, thin edges of two Popsicle sticks together. Repeat this step until you have four sets of two sticks. Lay your picture on a table and place one set of Popsicle sticks on each of the horizontal edges so that it overlaps a little of the picture. Remove the picture carefully so that the sticks do not move. Place the other two sets of sticks vertically over the first two to form a box. Glue the sticks in place for the frame. Decorate the surface of the frame before using glue to secure the picture in place on the back of the horizontal sticks. Glue another stick at an angle on either side of the back to hold up the frame.
- Create a personalized frame that highlights the image inside the frame. Create your frame by gluing two vertical Popsicle sticks onto the ends of two horizontal sticks. Decide which picture you are going to use in the frame. Choose paint that will match the colors in the picture to decorate the frame. Use words to personalize the frame. For example, a picture of you will use foam letters or letter beads to spell out your name on the top of the frame. Use glitter, beads or ribbon to decorate the remaining edges of the frame. Glue a piece of ribbon across the back of the frame so that it can be hung on the wall.
- For a more intricate frame, use more than just a simple box outline. Carefully cut your Popsicle sticks to length using a craft knife or scissors. Design your frame on paper before beginning. Ensure that three or four edges of your frame sit flat so that the picture can be easily glued on. Decorate the exterior of your frame and cut your picture to size after gluing.
- Popsicle sticks also come in a variety of colors. This is significantly cleaner than using paint to color the sticks yourself. Choose several sticks of either the same color or colors that go well together. Create a frame of any shape, ensuring that at least three edges lie flat on the tabletop for secure picture gluing. Decorate the surface of the frame with glitter, beads or ribbons while preserving the original color of the sticks.
