I remember hearing that phrase the first time as a small child.
It was a rainy day and I wanted to play outside but was saddened by the weather.
My mother sprinkled a little hope and wisdom into the mix with this clever line.
And it gave me hope.
It helped me to realize that the rains enabled good things and that my suffering would not be long.
As spring warms our towns and we all start to anticipate summer, it is one of the best times of the year to consider our health and well being.
No one wants to go around in the summer months with extra baggage.
And won't all of those trips to the beach, lake or river be more fun and exciting if we were in better physical shape? Spring is a time of new life.
And as the flowers and greenery begin to take fold around us it is a good lesson for growth.
You see life comes forth not out of a struggle but out of a constant yearning.
Many times it is a smooth and joyous process.
And the same can be said for your weight loss journey.
Weight Loss The Easy Way You see, you only need to make some mental adjustments in how you view your weight loss journey.
If you saw yourself as slim and healthy looking, you would be empowered to make better daily choices.
And those choices would not be sacrifices.
Those choices would be steps on your journey that excite and motivate you.
Why? Because you will have a strong vision of the person you are going to become - what you are going to look like AFTER you lose the weight.
And that is exciting, motivating and yes, EMPOWERING.
Enjoy The Journey I love brownies.
They are my weak spot - ok, one of several weak spots that I sometimes battle.
But when I am reminded of how I am going to look AFTER I lose the weight, saying no to brownies is not something that I dread.
It is a step on my journey.
It is just like the times where I am a little hungry and when my old self would have gone through a mental and emotional struggle to talk myself into eating (or not eating), my new self has an entirely different approach.
You see, I know what I am going to look like AFTER I lose the weight - it is my empowering photo.
And it empowers me to make better choices.
And it empowers me to realize that my hunger is not my body telling my mind that I should go to the vending machine.
No.
It is my body telling my mind that I am losing weight.
Those little afternoon hunger pains that used to cause me to sprint for a candy bar now translate a different meaning.
Now, those thoughts translate in my mind that I am going to look better this coming summer.
That the hunger is actually pounds shedding off of my body as my body burns the fat around my waist.
That the rain I am experiencing this afternoon on my void to dinner time it not a mud puddle, but rather a beautiful flower rising up to make my summer a special one.
May your month of May be filled with weight loss flowers.
