- 1). It is important to make sure that you select an accredited online high school. If you put the work in to receive a high school diploma online you want to know that it is recognized by the proper accrediting authorities. The first step it to determine what state the online high school classes are operating in.
- 2). Once you know the state of operation, check with one of the six regional accrediting agencies that cover that state. Make sure that the accreditation is from these agencies as they are recognized by the US Dept. of Education. An accredited online high school will be listed with them. - 3). After you have checked the accreditation for the online high school classes that you are interested in, double check with your state's Dept. of Ed. to make sure that it is recognized by them. Not every accredited online high school is recognized by every state.
