Why Music Festivals are a Great Alternative to Traditional Concerts
Sure, their price and time consumption make a lot of music festivals in 2011 unfeasible for some prospective attendees. But if you have the opportunity to attend a music fest in 2011, this is the one you want to attend.
For one, festivals in 2011 bring way more to the table than they did at the beginning of the millennium. Take for instance the Gathering of the Juggalos. How many of 2011's other music fest can boast bonfires, helicopter rides, artist seminars, wet T-shirt contests, Juggalo Championship Wrestling and Charlie Sheen? Not to mention the Ms. Juggalette contest highly anticipated by Juggalos far and wide every year.
Music festivals in 2011 have evolved without a doubt, but none to the extent of Insane Clown Posse's Gathering of the Juggalos.
Music Festival's Are About the Music
That much should go without saying. Even though the Gathering of the Juggalos 2011l has an array of offerings beyond music, they've still done a great job booking great performers that all Juggalos will enjoy. The usual horror rap suspects of Twiztid, Dark Lotus, Psychopathic Rydas, Blaze, Boondox, and of course Insane Clown Posse will all be on hand at this 2011 festival. When compiling the cost and that does not include time and travel to see all these great performers, one will find that attending this music festival is a great investment in fun and debachary.
Not so expected are acts like Bobby Brown and George Clinton. Their styles of music may benothing like the horror rap artists that Juggalos are used to, but that doesn't mean they will go unappreciated. Insane Clown Posse member Violent J has said that if received well, he hopes Bobby Brown and George Clinton will act as a bridge to welcome more musical styles at Gathering of the Juggalos music festivities in the future.
The Gathering of the Juggalos (The Gathering or GOTJ) is an annual festival put on by Psychopathic Records, featuring performances by the entire label as well as numerous well-known musical groups and underground artists. It was founded by Robert Bruce, Insane Clown Posse (Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler), and their label in 2000. The Gathering has featured bands of a variety of genres within hip hop and rock, though the majority of the acts perform horrorcore and hardcore hip hop, similar to that of Psychopathic Records artists. Described by Joseph Bruce as a "Juggalo Woodstock", the Gathering of the Juggalos spans four days and includes concerts, wrestling, games, contests, autograph sessions, karaoke, and seminars with artists. Over its first eleven events, the festival has drawn an attendance of about 107,500 fans.
