Kiriakis Mansion

E.J. and Nicole arrive outside for the engagement party when they are confronted by Victor, who tells them they have the wrong house. Nicole affirms that Chloe’s her best friend. “What a frightening thought,” responds Victor, who uninvites them to the party. Victor snarls how E.J. is a damn fool for being involved with Nicole. He questions how many lies Nicole has told E.J. and how gullible he is.

“Who the hell do you think you are?” questions an irate E.J. “Well, this is my house,” affirms Victor. “And this is the woman that I love,” counters E.J. Victor calls him a damn masochist and believes that E.J. has a death wish. Nicole affirms that she and E.J. love each other. E.J. surmises that Victor can’t stand someone else being happy since he’s such a miserable wretch. Victor warns him that he will know what misery is. E.J. chastises Victor for talking about someone who is going to be a wonderful mother.

Just inside, Daniel flashes back to his and Chloe's passionate encounter. Kate approaches Daniel and is glad he’s there, recalling how he disappeared earlier to get the first aid kit. She assumes that the hospital called and questions what made him come back. “Chloe,” he replies. Daniel declares that there’s something he needs to say about her.

Victor leads Nicole and E.J. inside, since he doesn’t want to see Kate upset. Daniel raises a glass and proposes a toast to Chloe and Lucas.

“May your choices in life always be the right ones, and may you forever be happy with them,” he says. Lucas kisses his fiancé and Stephanie notes to Philip that the couple is totally in love. Philip says he hasn’t seen Lucas this happy in ages.

Chelsea asks Chloe if she picked out a dress, but Chloe says not yet. “Well, we know it won’t be white,” remarks Victor. Max senses the tension and summons Chelsea to bring the cake out with him. Victor advises Lucas to put off a wedding date as long as possible and give himself time to see past the physical attributes and into the empty soul. Lucas chews Victor out and refers to Chloe as the most honest, caring person he knows. Kate leads Victor away to get some cake. Lucas apologizes for Victor attitude, then takes a call from Maggie.

Nicole asks Chloe what’s making her so miserable. “I think I made a huge mistake,” sighs Chloe. Lucas gets off the phone with Maggie and is congratulated by E.J. He glances over at Victor and E.J. quips how old Vic always knows how to light up a room. “He’s losing it,” says Lucas, which E.J. agrees with. Lucas advises E.J. to listen to Victor about Nicole, stating that she’s never truly satisfied. E.J. tries to assure his rival that Nicole is well taken care of.

Nicole asks her BFF if she’s having second thoughts about marrying Lucas. Chloe claims she loves Lucas and refers to him as sweet, funny, a great dad, and someone who would do anything for her. Nicole notes how it sounds like she’s trying to convince herself. Chloe insists that she doesn’t want to hurt him, but she also wants to do the right thing. Daniel requests a word with Chloe, who has to talk to Lucas. Chloe goes over to Lucas and Daniel can’t help but stare. Daniel asks Nicole about her doctor. Nicole tries to assure him that her doctor is very competent, but Daniel isn’t buying it.

Chelsea approaches Kate in the foyer and assumes that she needed space from Daniel. She predicts that being friends with Daniel won’t be easy for her grandma. “Do you still have feelings for him?” asks Kate. Chelsea declares that Daniel’s completely out of her system. Kate surmises that it’s because she moved on with Max.

Back in the living room, Max tells Lucas to let him know if he wants to have a bachelor party at the Cheatin’ Heart, jokingly suggesting strippers. Lucas predicts that one day all Max will want to do is spend some quiet time with Chelsea. Max claims he and Chelsea are just friends. Lucas thinks they make a cute couple.

Philip congratulates Chloe and welcomes her to the family. They exchange a hug as Steph and Daniel witness the moment. Chelsea affirms to Kate that she and Max are strictly platonic.

Meanwhile, Nicole eats cake and Daniel asks her what her doctor’s name is. She “accidentally” drops her plate of cake. E.J. shakes Daniel’s hand and puts his arm around Nicole, offering to get their coats so they can go. Nicole then receives a call from Mia, who needs to talk about the baby.

Chloe thanks Max and Chelsea for coming before they leave. She thanks Kate for throwing the party and remarks how kind it was for her to invite Nicole and E.J., even though they are not her favorite people. Kate assures her that tonight was all about Chloe and her happiness.

Nearby, Victor grumbles what a dreadful party it is, but Daniel disagrees. Victor refers to Chloe as a woman who has jumped into bed with half of the male population of Salem. Daniel tells him not to talk about Chloe that way. Victor refers to Lucas as a poor bastard. “He’s not exactly a genius. That’s why he keeps ending up with these foolish women who have nothing going for themselves except big bosoms,” he adds. Daniel tells him not to talk about Chloe or any other woman that way in his presence. He refers to Chloe as a bright, passionate, intelligent woman, and says that Victor’s contempt for her cheapens him.

Nicole tells Mia she can’t talk right now and asks her if they can talk in the morning, but Mia insists that it’s important. She reluctantly agrees to come over in an hour. E.J. re-emerges and asks who Mia is.

Victor berates Daniel for lashing out at him in his own home. Daniel asks why he can’t cut Chloe a break. “Because she’s poison, that’s why! I don’t care if she gave her bone marrow to the entire population of the Midwest!” She’s a user and a fraud!” exclaims Victor. Daniel insists that Victor owes Chloe a little bit of respect.

Out in the foyer, Chloe is impressed with Kate for setting aside her differences with Nicole. Kate believes that holding onto anger is a waste of time and energy. She hugs Chloe, grateful that she’s made Lucas the happiest he’s been in his entire life. Daniel exchanges looks with a guilty Chloe.
