- 1). Wear a pair of rubber gloves before wiring dual batteries. The gloves stop your hands getting dirty, but more importantly they protect you from getting an electric shock from the batteries.
- 2). Put the dual battery you want to wire in your trolling vessel in the battery compartment next to the existing battery. You usually find there is plenty of space in your trolling vessel's battery compartment to accommodate dual batteries.
- 3). Connect the end of a battery cable to the positive terminal of the dual battery. The positive terminal is labeled "Pos." If the battery cable has a spring-clamp, squeeze the clamp handles using your hand to open the jaws of the clamp, then put the jaws over the battery terminal and release the pressure so the jaws close and tighten. If the cable has a circular metal ring and nut and bolt fitting, put the metal ring over the terminal and tighten the nut and bolt using a wrench. Connect the opposite end of the battery cable to the positive terminal of the existing battery using the same method as before.
- 4). Connect the end of a second battery cable to the negative terminal of the dual battery using the spring clamp or a wrench to tighten the nut and bolt. Connect the opposite end of the battery cable to the negative terminal of your original battery. As soon as the cables are connected you've wired dual batteries in parallel.
