Celebrate the Human Body With a "Clothes-Free" Beach Party

Guts, a great body and a nearby nude beach are all you need to host an unforgettable day in the sun.
Truthfully, you don't even need a great body.
This is about celebrating who we are, and I admire folks who are completely comfortable in their own skin, no matter how much there is of it.
Swimsuits are off the planning checklist, but what's on it? I'm going to talk about everything from invitations to the menu to party favors, but first, you have to find a nude beach, and make absolutely sure you put the correct address in the invitation.
Have fun with the invitations--do them by hand or on a computer with a clever design, perhaps a card with a photo of a sun-baked, palm tree-shaded, deserted seashore with the headline: It's Time to "Sea" You All at My Clothes-Free Beach Ball! Follow the headline with the date, time, location and any particulars (BYOB, No Cameras, etc.
) Your food and beverage choices are wide open.
Hire a company to prepare a clambake in the sand or bring a cooler with picnic items like fried chicken, sub sandwiches, potato salad, chips, and whatever grab-and-eat goodies put a smile on your face.
Stay away from hot foods that can burn guests if dropped in their lap.
Assuming your guests are all adults, you'll probably want to fill a cooler with beer, wine, maybe some tequila and rum, too.
Have a few beach supplies on hand that some folks might forget, like towels, a few beach chairs and umbrellas, lots and lots (and lots!) of sunscreen and lip balm, which, by the way, are fabulous favors for the day, and you can have the containers personalized.
The same is true for bottled water.
Sure, you can buy a case of unpersonalized bottled water, but to make your event--and your guest feel special, it never hurts to add some pizazz in the way of personalized party favors.
Just because you're on a nude beach doesn't mean you can't engage in the same games and activities you'd enjoy on any other beach.
Bring Frisbees, a volleyball and net, a beach ball, kites, and maybe even a few fishing rods.
With some kid-size pails and shovels on hand, you can have a sand-sculpture competition.
Some words of advice--be sure to check the laws pertaining to the nude beach you choose.
There might be specific rules about food, alcohol and children.
Most nude beach authorities ask that you wear a swimsuit when entering and exiting the beach.
And even though you're nude, which is "dressed" for some things other than nude swimming and sunbathing, you're asked to keep it clean, and I'm not talking about picking up the trash after your party.
You should clean up after yourself, no matter where you host a party.
Keep an eye out for your guests.
If you see sunburn rearing its ugly red head on the usually unexposed (or any other) parts of someone's body, tell them so-and hand them the sunscreen.
It's up to you whether you offer to apply it for them or not.
Have fun! Enjoy celebrating the beauty of the human body during a day at the beach, when you and your friends and leave your inhibitions and hang-ups at home!
