- 1). Create a duct tape wall decoration. Avoid placing duct tape directly on the wall because it can be very difficult to remove; use a piece of cardboard instead. Cover the cardboard in duct tape. Experiment with different patterns and colors of tape. Use it in place of a bulletin board or picture frame or simply as a work of art.
- 2). Transform your clothing with duct tape. Place the article of clothing on a mannequin or on another person so the surface underneath is solid. Plan the colors and patterns you want; options include stripes, checkerboards or solid colors. Wrap the tape in the desired pattern around the clothing. You might decide to cover an entire pair of pants or jacket in duct tape or to place duct tape strategically. Keep in mind that you can't wash the clothing after the duct tape application.
- 3). Update your home accessories with duct tape. You can cover any home accessory in layers and patterns of colorful tape, but it works particularly well on hard surfaces. Place the strips of duct tape at even intervals, either horizontally or vertically, until the entire surface is covered. Add additional layers in patterns around the object until you achieve the specific look you desire. Try decorating things like magazine racks, garbage cans, vases and even furniture with duct tape.
- 4). Decorate your car with duct tape. Wrap your steering wheel in duct tape as an alternative to a traditional cover; avoid covering vital features like the horn or volume controls. Create colorful patterns by wrapping your seats with the tape. Note that you should use this approach only if your car is old; covering parts of a new car in duct tape can bring down its value in a hurry.
