- 1). Log onto the Hotmail homepage (see Resources). Select the "Sign Up" button in the lower left of the page. This will take you to the signup page to create your account.
- 2). Enter your information into the appropriate fields. Begin by selecting and entering your email address. Select the "Availability" button to see if it is available. If it isn't, type another one or choose an address from the available IDs suggested by Hotmail.
- 3). Create your password and either enter an alternate email address or choose a security question. You have to choose one of these options in case you need to reset your password.
- 4). Enter your personal information, such as your name, state, ZIP code, gender and birth year. Type the characters displayed at the bottom of the page into the designated box and read Microsoft's service agreement and privacy statement. Click the "I accept" button to process your request for a new email account.
- 5). Sign into your account with your new username and password. Access to your free account is available immediately after you sign up.
