6 Tips on How To Stop Anxiety Attacks Permanently

An anxiety attack can be very disturbing. You may be just relaxing in your home when you suddenly get gripped by anxiety. This exhibits itself as a fear that you may be going crazy. It may also be characterized by feelings of a fast heartbeat, nausea, sweating, and an alarm of a heart attack. Learning how to stop anxiety attacks can be the relief that you may be searching for. Below are six tips that can help you eliminate these attacks permanently.

How to Stop Anxiety Attacks

1. Understand Anxiety Attacks

The very basic way of fighting anxiety is learning them and getting a deep understanding of why they occur. Learn all you can about anxiety disorders, anxiety, stress, depression and the fight or flight response. This knowledge keeps you prepared and can help you stay at ease even in the unexpected and sudden attack.

2. Learn the Symptoms

Understanding that the anxiety symptoms are not fatal is major key to fighting this disorder. When you recognize these symptoms early enough, you will learn to cope with them and not to fight them. You will also learn to talk yourself out of such attacks because you already recognize what is happening.

3. Breathe Easy

In order to prevent an anxiety attack, there are a number of breathing techniques you can practice. One such method is the slow breathing. In this technique, you simply place one of your hands on your abdomen and the other one on the chest. Then breathe in and hold the breath while counting one up to ten. As you exhale, imagine yourself being very relaxed. Then inhale again through your nose, taking about 3 seconds during the inhalation. Repeating this process about 5 times will help you evade a fully fledged anxiety attack since you will shift your focus from its symptoms.

4. Stress Control

If you feel that you have too much to worry about, try setting up some 30 minutes every day in a specific place where you go to and think about these problems. Then once the 30 minutes are over, go back to your work or normal routine. Doing so helps some people to minimize their focus on the problems they have in life. You can even write down your worries and reflect on them during these 30 minutes and then forget them after the reflection session.

5. Laughter - The best medicine

One very effective way of forgetting your worries is identifying something that makes you laugh. Seek out movies, songs, books or even a comedy club where you can get a good laugh. Laughing relaxes your body by lowering your blood pressure, reducing anxiety and leaving you healthier.

6. Eat Healthy

Finally, you need to eat a healthy diet all the time. There are foods that make anxiety worse. A good example is alcohol, sugar and caffeine. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruits, both of which raise your mood while stabilizing your energy.
