Is it True That Quitting Smoking Will Cause Weight Gain?

Some people shy away from quitting smoking because they've heard that it could cause them to gain weight.
Although this is somewhat true in a way, the fact of the matter is that it still does not make it a good reason to not quit smoking - and you're about to find out exactly how quitting smoking can affect your weight, and also why you should still quit smoking regardless! Basically it is important for you to realize that everyone is different.
Different people have different metabolisms, and that is why some people can pig out on a constant basis and still remain stick thin while others end up packing on the pounds even though they carefully watch what they eat.
Metabolism itself is a tricky subject to discuss, but it is enough for you to realize that different people react differently.
Whether or not smoking will cause you to gain weight is something like that.
In general, it is true that on average smoking does cause people to gain a few pounds.
However, that does not necessarily apply to you directly.
If you had a naturally high metabolism to begin with and have been thin your entire life then the chances are that you either won't gain any weight at all, or even if you do that that weight gain will be minimal.
Unfortunately, if you do have a low metabolism rate then the chances are that you will gain some weight.
However, it is important for you to understand that regardless of how much weight you actually do or do not gain - it is still a good idea to quit smoking.
Frankly, it is absurd to say that you don't want to quit smoking simply because you're afraid that you might gain a little weight by doing so.
At the end of the day, no matter how you slice and dice it and whatever angle you look at it from, the fact of the matter is that whatever weight you may gain is a lot less unhealthy than continuing to smoke! If you do happen to pack on a few pounds, you can always deal with it later on.
However the first step is to quit smoking so that your body is able to heal itself and get back into balance.
After that happens, you'll find that you're able to shave off whatever weight you've gained without much of an issue.
So yes, it is true that quitting smoking could quite well cause weight gain - but you should still quit regardless!
