After this you will need to set a quit date.
People have the habit of postponing this, therefore the minute you decide to start quitting is the day you set, so that you journey begins sooner than later.
You will also need to keep a journal of your progress and setbacks.
This will help you know what you are doing wrong and the steps you need to take in order to move forward.
In order to quit smoking you will need to come up with reasons that make you smoke and find alternatives to these activities so that you can quit for good.
One cannot just wake up one day and decide to quit smoking and get rid of all the cigarettes that you have in the house.
This has to be a gradual process so that you can remain sane and do not cause yourself harm.
You need a smoking plan so that if you were smoking ten cigarettes a day you can reduce then to eight or six and this can go on reducing every day till the day you just smoke one cigarette and in the end you will stop smoking all together.
You can do this with a serious friend who wants to quit smoking so that you can give each other moral support to make the process much faster.
To help you quit smoking faster you can come up with a list of all the negative things on smoking and the positive ones you will find that there are no positive aspects of smoking so the demerits will help you get rid of the vice fast.
Have a positive attitude and keep telling yourself that you can make it as this will help you quit smoking fast.
You should anticipate for change as this will give you the morale to move forward in the positive direction.
Remove all cigarettes that are within your reach whether it is in your house, car or office so that they do not tempt you to go back to the vice.
If you efforts do not pan out you can check into a rehabilitation center.
These are institutions that will offer you professional help so that you can quit smoking.
This is where you will go through counseling and therapies to ensure that you do not go back to the vice.
Here you will find people who have the same problem as you and you can join hands to defeat the vice.
Once you have quit smoking surround yourself with positive crowds and make you get activities that will keep your mind away from the cigarettes.
