How to Keep Your Sinuses Healthy

    • 1). Don't blow that nose! Blowing your nose can send bacteria into your sinuses. Try an antihistamine instead.

    • 2). Cry. Crying relieves stress and pent up sinus pressure.

    • 3). Sleep with your head elevated. This allows your sinuses to drain.

    • 4). Avoid nasal spray usage that lasts longer than 3 days. This can cause a rebound effect that's even worse the second time around.

    • 5). Lean over a steaming water source with a towel over your head to capture it and breath deeply. If you can not do this, drape a warm, wet washcloth over the bridge of your nose and eyes.

    • 6). Hum. Swedish researchers believe that humming can help keep the sinuses clear and healthy.

    • 7). Avoid cigarettes, wheat, wine and milk during common flare up times. These are known sinus irritants.
