- 1). Fill your spray bottle with a half-and-half mixture of water and bleach. Spray the joint between the backsplash and the wall. Let it dry.
- 2). Load your caulk tube into the caulk gun. Cut off the end of the tube at a 45-degree angle using your razor knife, to make a hole about ¼ inch wide. Slide a nail into the hole to break the seal.
- 3). Put the tip of the gun against the edge of the backsplash where it meets the wall, at one end. Hold the gun at a diagonal angle. Compress the trigger to expel caulk from the tip.
- 4). Drag the gun backward along the edge of the granite, squeezing the trigger and laying a smooth, straight line of caulk between the backsplash and the wall. Keep going until you get to the end of it, then lift the gun away. "Tool" the caulk by wetting your thumb and running it along the line gently, flattening it out.
- 5). Repeat the process for each side of the backsplash where it meets the wall. Let it set for 24 hours.
