- 1). Slide a guitar pick between the front and back of the iPod Touch along the seam. Continue to drag the pic down the seam around the entire perimeter until the back of the unit is removed.
- 2). Remove the 6 screws along each of the two longer sides of the iPod Touch. Also remove the 2 screws on the top. Make note of where you took each screw from so you can put them back in the correct holes later. Not all of the screws are the same size.
- 3). Use the plastic pick to remove the battery connector from the circuit board. There's another black connector attached to the circuit board. Gently remove this one as well, using the pick.
- 4). Remove the battery from the iPod. Starting at the top of the iPod Touch move the pick around the perimeter between the battery and the screen protector to loosen the glue points. Be sure not to damage the cables that are glued to the back of the battery.
- 5). Place the new battery in the iPod touch and replace both cable connectors. Then replace all 8 screws and replace the back panel on the iPod.
