- 1). Purchase or find a glass soda bottle that has the traditional hourglass bottle shape.
- 2). Fill the bottle with glass marbles or tumbled gemstones, leaving only about an inch of space at the top of the bottle.
- 3). Cut a 24-inch length of 18-gauge aluminum wire and bend it in half so that you have two 12-inch wires connected at one end.
- 4). Stick the bent portion of the wire into the part of a drill where you would normally insert a drill bit, and then tighten the chuck completely to secure your wire inside. Use a drill key to tighten the chuck further if necessary.
- 5). Grasp the free ends of your wire firmly with pliers and start running the drill. You will see your wire start to twist together. When it is twisted enough for your taste, stop the drill. Be careful when you twist wire with a drill; over-twisting it can cause the wire to snap.
- 6). Repeat Steps 4 through 6 to create another identical twisted length of wire. These two pieces will serve as the arms of your bottle-mannequin.
- 7). Use pliers and your hands to bend the twisted wires into an attractive shape. You may want to loop the end of the wire to resemble the hands of your mannequin; this makes your display more realistic, and gives you a great place to hang earrings.
- 8). Insert the twisted wires into your bottle and shove them down through the marble filler until they are secure. You can bend them as needed until they resemble arms.
- 9). Cut an 18-inch length of 18-gauge aluminum wire and twist it with a drill as described in Steps 4 through 6.
- 10
Remove your wire from the drill and wrap its end around a small circular object. You should end up with a loop that tops your wire, which looks something like a lollipop. This will be your mannequin's head. - 11
Insert the head into the glass marbles inside your bottle. You have now completed your basic mannequin jewelry holder, and you can use the arms and the head to dangle necklaces, bracelets and earrings. If you need to display more jewelry, you can always twist more wire to create more stands on your mannequin.
