Wedding Dresses 101 - Your Guide to Gown Embellishments

Once you have decided on the basics of your wedding dress, find a silhouette that suits your figure and a neck line that complements you.
If desired you can begin to delve into a treasure trove of seemingly endless added extras.
These embellishments are what can really set your particular gown apart from the rest and leave you basking in accolades on the day itself.
Here is a simple and straightforward guide to merely a handful of the possibilities available to you to enhance your gown.
Appliques are extra fabric items that can be quite intricate.
Things such as small flowers, bows or ribbons, can be sewn into the gown to create a very chic look.
Similarly small pieces of glass or crystal can also be sewn into the dress material to deliver an appearance that is very pleasing to the eye.
The latter embellishments are referred to as beading.
One relatively large item that can be added to your gown is a corset.
These were very popular in centuries gone by and can provide a very elegant appearance to your outfit.
As they are quite tight fitting they tend to tuck away any curves you may have that you want to hide.
The can also serve to accentuate any curves you want to show off, particularly in your chest region.
On the downside because they are somewhat constricted and lace up at the back you may find them a little uncomfortable.
This is the main reason that their use has fallen out of favor with many modern-day brides.
Embroidery can be a very stylish addition to any gown.
This is the end product of a process of fine needlework using a combination of different threads to create a pattern on your dress.
Swirls, curls, and floral designs are often common and the work can either be performed by hand or using a machine.
It provides a great way to add color to a dress that is usually either plain white or a shade slightly off-white.
Any color added would be subtle and complimentary as a lot of embroidery is quite minimal and often uses pastel colors.
