- 1). Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that features the wheel bearing you wish to remove. Set the car jack below the frame rail nearest the wheel you are working on. Raise the Neon. Slide a jack stand below the Neon. Lower the Neon onto the jack stand. Keep it raised high enough so that the wheel is off of the ground. Remove the lug nuts. Pull off the wheel.
- 2). Remove the two 15 mm bolts securing the brake caliper and brake caliper bracket to the rotor. Access these bolts from behind the caliper.
- 3). Cut two or three feet of cord or wire. Tie the caliper and bracket to the suspension coil so that the caliper and bracket do not hang by the brake hose.
- 4). Pull the rotor off of the brake disc with your hands.
- 5). Remove the four 15 mm bolts securing the wheel bearing hub assembly to the brake disc. Pull the wheel bearing hub out of the brake disc.
- 6). Set the wheel bearing puller on top of the wheel bearing hub assembly. Insert three bolts through the bolt holes of the puller and three of the four bolt holes on the wheel hub bearing assembly. Loosen and remove the large central nut from the wheel hub assembly with the compressed air hammer. Pull the wheel bearing hub from the assembly.
- 7). Take the wheel bearing hub and the new wheel bearing to a mechanic. Have the mechanic hydraulically press the old bearing off of the hub. Have the mechanic also press the new wheel bearing onto the hub. Resecure the large central nut to the wheel bearing hub assembly.
- 8). Set the wheel bearing hub assembly back onto the disc. Secure it in place with the four bolts you removed earlier. Place the rotor over the disc.
- 9). Replace the brake caliper and bracket to the rotor. Replace the wheel. Lower the Neon to the ground.
- 10
Repeat Steps 1 through 9 for any other wheels that have faulty wheel bearings on your Neon.
