Cast of 'Survivor' Season 27--'Blood vs Water'

To shake things up for the 27th season, Survivor's Blood vs Water) features returning contestants who signed up thinking they would be teamed up with a loved one (daughter, boyfriend, wife, niece).

"The twist this season, however," CBS revealed, "is loved ones will be forced to choose whether to ‘save’ their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.”

(Redemption Island is where eliminated castaways get a chance and return to game and win the million dollar prize.)

Meet the returning players and the family members they are forced to compete against in this photo gallery.

Aras and Vytas of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

In 2006, Aras Baskauskas won Survivor: Panama–Exile Island. Now the 31-year-old has returned with his older brother, 33-year-old yoga instructor/math teacher Vytas Baskauskas.

Aras, who admits, "Early in our lives, we had a very rocky relationship," hoped the experience would "bring us closer together." Instead they'll be competing against each other.

Candice and John of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Fans were surprised when Candice Cody (nee Woodcok) showed up on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains as a "Hero" when she had betrayed her tribe on the controversial, race-dividedSurvivor: Cook Islands. But host Jeff Probst insisted Candice was a hero because of her bravery and loyalty to her original tribe.

Hero or villain, Candice returns for a third time in Season 27, when she'll be competing against her husband John Cody.

Where will her loyalty lie this time?

Colton and Caleb of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Colton Cumbie of Alabama, previously appeared on Survivor: One World, where he quickly established himself as a villain by engineering power plays, building alliances and deliberately humiliating opponents to the point that he was accused of racism and Survivor host Jeff Probst called Cumbie, “a devil.”

Health issues (appendicitis) derailed Cumbie’s game, but now the 22-year-old student teacher is back, competing with his fiance, Caleb Bankston, a 26-year-old post office manager/farmer.

Will Colton be as cutthroat when it comes to Caleb?

Gervase and Marissa of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Forty-three-year-old Gervase Peterson, who competed against Richard Hatch in 2000’s premiere season of Survivor, returns for the first time. He'll compete with his niece, Marissa, (21) who recalls "watching him on TV in 4th grade."

Kat and Hayden of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Another Survivor: One World veteran, Kat Edorsson, returns with her boyfriend, Big BrotherSeason Twelve champ, Hayden Moss.

Moss, who says his pet peeve is, "wrinkled clothes," thinks his Big Brother experience will give him an advantage. "I have already played and won a game very similar to Survivor."

Laura and Ciera of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Survivor: Samoa veteran, 43-year-old Laura Morett returns with her daughter Ciera Eastin. While Morett says she's eager for her daughter to "understand what I went through," Eastin just wants "to beat my mom."

Monica and Brad of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Survivor One World veteran Monica Culpepper (42) returns to compete with her husband, attorney Brad Culpepper--a former pro football player who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Can Brad keep his vow, "I will always place [Monica] before me as I would never want to jeopardize her Survivor flame"?

Rupert and Laura of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Three-time veteran, 49-year-old Rupert Boneham, who started out on Survivor: Pearl Islands, returned for Survivor: All Stars (where he won $1 million as fan favorite) and Heroes vs Villains and is now back again, this time going head to head with his wife, Laura Boneham.

Tyson and Rachel of 'Survivor: Blood vs Water'

Tina Wesson won Survivor: Australia, then was the first to go home on Survivor: All Stars. Now the 52-year-old is back, with her 25-year-old daughter, Katie Collins.

Thirty-four-year-old professional cyclist Tyson Apostol has competed two previous times on Survivor, including on Survivor: Tocantins and Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. Now he's back with his 33-year-old cocktail waitress/graphic designer girlfriend Rachel Foulger.
