- 1). Jack up the rear of the Ford Ranger to give yourself additional access to the gap guards behind the rear wheels. You will see them between the frame and the inner wheel well of the truck.
- 2). Remove the bolts holding the gap guard in place against the body of the truck. On Rangers built after 1993, however, these gap guards are held in place with ribbed plastic fittings that do not have a head on them. These are removed by prying them up with a pair of pliers and pulling them out of the hole in which they are installed.
- 3). Remove the gap guards from behind the rear wheels when the fittings are removed, and then lower the truck off of the floor jack. When this is complete, jack up the front end of the truck to remove the gap guards from behind the front wheels.
- 4). Remove the fittings holding the gap guards on the front wheels in place, and then remove the front gap guards in the same manner you removed the rear gap guards.
