- 1). Open the hood of the Ford Focus. Locate the power steering pump on the driver's side of the engine compartment connected to the firewall.
- 2). Place the large cup under the pump. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts in plain view on the pump that are holding the pump fluid lines in place. Pull the lines out of the pump, and drain the pump into the cup.
- 3). Remove the nuts that are holding the pump onto the firewall, using the wrench. Remove the belt on the pump from the pulley. Pull the old pump from the engine housing.
- 4). Secure the new pump onto the firewall with the securing nut. Replace the belt to the pulley on the pump. Replace the lines to the correct holes on the pump. Tighten the nuts on the firewall and pump lines. Fill the pump to the "Full" line on the pump, using power steering fluid.
