- 1). Choose your yarn. Eyelash yarns come in a variety of colors, including some with variegated hues or metallic embellishments. In order to make a full scarf, you will need at least two balls of eyelash yarn since they usually come in short yardages.
Eyelash yarns can be very thin; so if you want a scarf that is thick and cozy, purchase standard worsted weight yarn in a color that coordinates with the eyelash yarn. The yarn you purchase can be any brand or fiber you prefer; just make sure you purchase equal yardage quantities of eyelash and worsted weight yarns. - 2). Knit an eyelash scarf. Cast on as many stitches as you like, in order to determine the width of your scarf. Use knitting needles in the size recommended on the yarn label. When your stitches are as wide as you want your scarf to be, stop casting on and begin knitting. If you want to make a doubled-up cozy scarf, hold one strand of eyelash yarn and one strand of traditional worsted weight yarn simultaneously. For a thinner scarf, hold only one strand of eyelash yarn.
Since eyelash yarn is so furry, your stitches won't really be visible in your scarf pattern. Because of this, you can use any stitch that comes easily to you. Knit or purl your stitches across every row, depending on your preference. Stop knitting when your scarf reaches the desired length; bind off and weave in your ends. - 3). Crochet your scarf instead. Again, you can use one strand of eyelash yarn for a thinner scarf or make it thicker by holding a strand of worsted weight yarn with the eyelash yarn. Use a crochet hook in the size recommended on the yarn label and chain as many stitches as you like in order to determine the width of the scarf. Once you have the desired width, chain one more and then single crochet across your foundation row. Continue to single crochet across the length of your scarf, and stop when you run out of yarn or your scarf is the length you desire. Finish off and weave in your ends.
