One issue is there, that they get scratches and can be damaged if proper cleaning procedures and materials are not employed.
There are certain easy steps for their cleaning.
First, unlock the window.
Then bottom sash must be raised.
Tilt latches should be used to tilt the bottom sash towards you until it is horizontal, that is total flat.
Then, bring a small amount of dish soap and mix it with water, take a dry cotton cloth, and dip it into the mixture and start cleaning the window softly in the circles, till the dirt and stains are removed.
You will notice some water spots; they are removed by using Oil soap, take 1 tsp of this soap and mix it in one gallon of water.
Using again, the soft cotton cloth, apply the mixture to window in circles.
Treat the mold with a mixture of vinegar.
The amount must be 30 percent vinegar and 70 percent water.
This mixture will remove the moulds and mildews.
Now, you can close the window.
Incase, there are labels, tapes or stickers on the window, then alcohol based cleaners can remove these stains, but first test the cleaner on something else.
Take a glass, and test it.
Once the stains are removed, now were it thoroughly with the clean water, and if the stains persist use the above procedure.
The other materials which help in cleaning the vinyl windows are the ammonia based cleaners.
The rule of the thumb to clean all PVC products is to clean them softly, with dilute soaps, solvents, with clean cotton cloth and clean water.
Use of any hard item, for example vinyl fiber fabrics will leave scratches and marks on it.
The use of strong acids, gasoline, paint remover, nail polish remover will permanently damage the window.
Out door dust and weather effects do disturb the tracks of the window.
The tracks trap in abrasive elements such dirt, grease, sand, leaves, soot, dead insects and etc.
They must be vacuumed out first.
But after vacuum they still persist, then take a small 1 inch broad brush, used for painting, and brush the tracks.
By doing so the trapped dirt will become loose and now it becomes easy to vacuum them.
After the vacuum cleaning, now use light silicone spray on the tracks which will help in the easy operation of the window.
Vacuum cleaners do have window cleaning accessory nozzles, and also brushes, they prove to be the best for cleaning these tracks.
